PreGrade by Heavy Collectables
Terms of Use
Last updated 4 November 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Heavy Collectables (“we”, “us”) for your use of the PreGrade app and website (“PreGrade”). By tapping “I agree”, or by using PreGrade, you accept these terms, the Privacy Policy, and every notice and disclaimer shown in PreGrade, all of which form part of this agreement. If you don’t agree, don’t use PreGrade.
1. What PreGrade is, and isn’t
PreGrade photographs a trading card and estimates its condition. It measures centering, corners, edges and surface from your photos and shows how those measurements compare against the Heavy Collectables grading standard and against four reference graders we made up.
PreGrade is not a card-grading service. It does not inspect cards, authenticate them, encapsulate them, or issue grades. Every figure it shows is an estimate produced by software from photographs you took. A professional grader working with the physical card, magnification and controlled light will see things a photo cannot, and may reach a different result.
PreGrade is just an app. Its numbers are not grades and mean nothing official. Do not trust or rely on any grade, estimate or measurement it shows.
2. Reference graders
Apart from the Heavy Collectables standard, the graders shown in PreGrade (US grader 1 and 2, Australian grader 1 and 2) are reference graders made up by Heavy Collectables to illustrate different styles of grading. They are not real grading companies and do not stand for any. Their standards and grade names are our own, and they say nothing about how any real grader would grade a card.
Heavy Collectables and PreGrade are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to any grading company. Nothing in PreGrade is a grade from any grading company, or a prediction or promise of what any grading company would award. Heavy Collectables does not grade cards through PreGrade: its standard is used only to make estimates from your photos.
3. No guarantee of accuracy
We work to make PreGrade useful, but we do not promise that any estimate is accurate, complete or current. Results depend on your photos, your lighting, your background, your phone’s camera and the card itself.
Centering figures are measurements from a photograph and carry measuring error. Corner, edge and surface figures can miss flaws that a photo doesn’t show, and can flag things that aren’t flaws. Every result is an estimate only, and may be wrong.
4. Your decisions are yours
PreGrade does not give advice. Whether to grade a card, where to send it, what to pay, and whether to buy or sell a card at any price are your decisions, made at your own risk. Do not rely on PreGrade as the basis for a purchase, sale, trade, insurance claim or submission. Check sold prices, and any grading service’s fees and standards, yourself.
5. Your photos and your cards
You must only photograph cards you own or have permission to photograph. You are responsible for the photos you take and anything you do with PreGrade’s output, including sharing the result image.
Do not present PreGrade’s estimates as official grades, remove or hide its disclaimers, or use its output to mislead anyone, including in a sale listing. Do not use PreGrade for anything unlawful.
6. Where your data lives
PreGrade works on your device. Photos, measurements, saved cards and settings stay on your phone or computer unless you export or share them. We do not receive them. You are responsible for backing up saved cards; if the app is uninstalled or its storage is cleared, they are gone. See the Privacy Policy for detail.
7. Intellectual property
PreGrade, including its software, design, text and the Heavy Collectables grading standard, belongs to Heavy Collectables or its licensors. You may use PreGrade for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, sell, rent, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute it except as the law allows.
The reference graders and their standards are ours, provided for comparison and information only.
8. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded. Everything in these terms that limits our responsibility applies only to the extent the law allows.
9. Limits on our liability
Subject to section 8, PreGrade is provided “as is” and “as available”, and we give no promise beyond those the law requires, including as to accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted operation.
Subject to section 8, and to the extent the law allows, Heavy Collectables is not liable for loss or damage that comes from relying on PreGrade’s estimates, including money spent or lost on a card, grading fees, postage, or loss of value in a card, or for lost data or photos.
10. Your responsibility
If you break these terms, for example by presenting PreGrade’s estimates as official grades, you are responsible for the loss that causes, to the extent the law allows. This does not make you responsible for loss we cause.
11. Age
PreGrade is for adults. If you are under 18, you may only use PreGrade with the permission of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of it.
12. Ending your access
If you break these terms, for example by presenting PreGrade’s estimates as official grades, removing its disclaimers or using it to mislead anyone, you must stop using PreGrade. You may stop using PreGrade at any time by uninstalling it. Sections 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 10 and 17 to 20 continue to apply after you stop.
13. Changes to the standards
We may change, add or remove the Heavy Collectables standard or any reference grader at any time, and doing so is not a breach of these terms or a fault in PreGrade.
14. App stores
If you install PreGrade through an app store such as Google Play, the store’s own terms also apply to the download and to any purchase or refund. The store operator is not a party to these terms, is not responsible for PreGrade or its output, and has no obligation to support or maintain it. These terms are between you and Heavy Collectables only.
15. Feedback
If you send us ideas or feedback about PreGrade, you agree we may use them to improve PreGrade without paying you.
16. Changes and availability
We may change PreGrade, or stop offering it. We may change these terms; when we do, PreGrade will show the new version and ask you to accept it before you continue. If you don’t accept it, you can stop using PreGrade.
17. Sorting out problems
If you have a complaint or a dispute with us, email us first with the details and give us 30 days to resolve it before starting any court or tribunal action. Nothing in this section stops you making a complaint to a consumer protection agency, or seeking urgent relief from a court where the law allows it.
18. Transfer
If Heavy Collectables changes its business structure or is sold, we may transfer PreGrade and these terms to the new owner, who then takes on our obligations to you. We will say so in PreGrade or on our website.
19. Things outside our control
We are not responsible for any failure or delay caused by something outside our reasonable control, including faults in your device, operating system or camera, app store outages, changes in the law, or events such as natural disasters.
20. General
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and you agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, that part is read down or removed and the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a right under these terms on one occasion, we can still enforce it later. These terms, with the Privacy Policy and the notices shown in PreGrade, are the agreement between you and us about PreGrade. None of this takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
If you live outside Australia, nothing in these terms takes away consumer rights you have under the laws of the place you live.
Questions about these terms can be sent to Heavy Collectables by email to hello@heavycollectables.com.au.
